what is the problem of evil?

the problem of evil (or its more technical term: theodicy) asks how we can reconcile the existence of evil and suffering in the world with the existence of an all-powerful, all-good God.

this project began with both these premises—that there is evil and that God is good—and quickly found one to be laughably thin and fearsomely brittle.

God is good, God is good, God is good. what the hell does it even mean?

especially with social media (bleh), evidence of unthinkable evil and violence at mass scales is constantly right at our fingertips. we can ignore it and be ignorant or we can face it be hopeless. or so it seems, at least.

worse, the idea that we may ever at all agree on what is evil and how to stop it feels increasingly as ephemeral as some Good God out there who maybe could stop all of this but for whatever reason wont.

i can’t figure it out. and neither can you.

but maybe if we talk about it a little bit together, we can get a little closer to something like hope. or like God.

what is the point of still choosing good?

i think there is a point—the still, small voice in my heart tells me so. i am not sure how much longer that voice will last. what is yours telling you? if not every day, then at least today?

tell me

please!
